About Me
Through my experience in Game Design, I found myself incredibly fond of game narrative, particularly through the lens of player engagement, agency, and emergence. Games have become a critical aspect of modern culture, impacting cultural and identity development. That's why it is imperative that, as writers and designers, our work is meaningfully inclusive and diverse, so that, through play, the game can make a positive societal impact in favor of inclusivity, equity, and empathy.
Narrative is a means to communicate emotions and experience so that an audience may begin to better understand and empathize with those same emotions and experience. Through the interactive capabilities of video games, the audience has more agency in their engagement with the narrative, allowing for the narrative content to become more personal and impactful. In everything I write, I strive to empathize with the audience in their experiences while conveying my own. At the crossroads of these experiences lies the chance to make a meaningful impact to the audience.
Exploring narrative from a Game Design context, my understanding of narrative has extended beyond just video games. I believe there is great value in multi-modal writing, as every method of communicating narrative has vastly different opportunities. In recognizing the need for multiple communicative mediums, I have continued writing across multiple mediums, including games, novels, papers, and videos. It is my hope that everything I write, regardless of the medium, may meaningfully discuss complicated emotions with sincerity while fostering inclusivity and empathy.
Who Am I?
I'm a Detroit-Based Game and Narrative Designer, currently working as a Studio Writer for Internet of Hearts. Having earned my BFA in Game Design from Lawrence Technological University, I take a wholistic approach to development from narrative to grayboxing, programming, and design.
Most of my time outside of work I find myself cooking, reading, writing, and staying up late having meaningful conversations with friends.
I serve as a Coordinator for the LTU Expo, where I participate in expo meetings, make expo decisions, assist in organizing the Artist Alley and Dealer's Den, and manage Sponsorships.
